Sony/Meg artist Que Williams is back"

There is a noticeable difference between today’s R&B and the music of the past. Once upon a time, great vocalists like Michael, Gerald, Luther and Keith had passion in their music. They had romance. The music made love. I ran across Sony/MEG artist Que Williams and I haven't looked back since. Bringing a new flavor to R & B, Que adds in neo-soul, trap and eclectic tunes to his music. ... They say once you turn a good girl bad, she’s gone forever. Well, self-proclaimed bad girl Rihanna never fails to live up to her name. She graces revealed seven spicy Complex covers in celebration of her seventh studio album, Unapologetic. Photographed by Zoe McConnell, she dishes about light-hearted topics like getting the best Instagram selfie award to more interesting ones such as the inside scoop on her 777 Tour and her collaboration with Chris Brown.

On Unapologetic: “I held back before. I didn’t show a lot of myself. I was very guarded,” she says. “I needed to be open and free and fearless. Basically say, ‘Fawk it.’ What’s the worst that can happen? They’ll hate me? They’ve done that before.”

On collaborating with Chris Brown on the “Birthday Cake” remix: “It’s all about the music. Everything else doesn’t even play a part in the studio.” “The-Dream didn’t write it for them as a duet. Jay-Z and I were in the car together listening to the song, and we thought it would be a great duet. It sounds dope. It feels good. That’s how Chris ended up on the song.”

Prada Fall/Winter 2013

Following a livestream of their Fall 2013 menswear show in Milan, we can now share a full look at Prada‘s latest offering. For us, the clear highlight in this collection is the outerwear, where top coats, blazers and bombers are seen in an abundance of strong colored wools and leathers. The footwear, while still bold, is very subdued colorwise compared to what we’ve seen from the Italian fashion house over the past few seasons. Many naysayers were complimenting the furniture more then the clothing for this collection. Prada Creepers were my favorites.

In the Bottega Veneta collection the silhouettes were slim with high-waisted shaping, with a classic menswear color palette.

“Fabric & knit: it’s luxe fabrics all the way from the softest calfskin leather to brocade, cashmere, alpaca and wool flannels, double-faced wools and shearling. Fine-gauge cashmere knits complete the look” – WGSN

20130113-144729.jpgThe suites in the collection are full of covered buttons and concealed fastenings, the shoes were kept classic as well basket loafers and brogues accessorized by totes, alligator document cases, scarves and travel bags.

Nicki Minaj Hair Stylist Quits!

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on Nicki Minaj Hair Stylist Quits!

Nicki Minaj has been carrying a long face lately while being spotted out at various events and now we know why. Her famous hairstylist has bailed out on her and is no longer a part of the Barbz team.

Last night, Terrence Davidson, the man behind Nicki Minaj’s wig selection for the last three years announced that he has parted ways with the star after a few creative differences. This is sort of a big deal being that Nicki Minaj’s hair has become a huge part of her brand and the last thing she needs right now is to have to look for someone new in the midst of her hectic American Idol schedule. You know how us women are about folks we don’t know touching our hair.

Her hairstylist wrote in a statement:

“I would like to inform the media and supporters that I’ve decided to step away as hair stylist and wig creator for Nicki Minaj. It has been an amazing experience offering me a chance to express my creativity and exhibit my love for the art form of wig design. I have decided to part ways from Nicki Minaj because I would like to explore other opportunities within my own brand and re-energize my creativity through work in fashion editorial, beauty consultations, media personality, ‘how-to’ lectures and hair show development. I am very proud of the body of work built with Nicki Minaj and I appreciate the support over the years from fans who’ve expressed love for my craft. Look forward to seeing me larger than life in 2013”

W Anderson Fall 2013, Menswear meets Womenswear:

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on W Anderson Fall 2013, Menswear meets Womenswear:

The J.W Anderson show was a show indeed. Talk about 2013 being huge for menswear J.W Anderson took his collection to another level completely, the question is did he go too far? In his collection he starts off with men in feminine silhouettes and bold fabrics as the collection progresses in its roller-coaster of masculinity and femininity I can’t help but question the mind state of the collection itself, the man becoming a woman (so to speak), the innovation and and wow factor of it all.

On a personal level I respect the risk taken by the designer(s) at J.W Anderson the collection is very creative and it’s great in its own right. It’s absolutely a collection that’ll start many conversations and be evenly matched in the amounts of controversy.

Was this too much? Or is it the shaking up the fashion world needs?

Menswear Trend Heavy Textures

A/W 13/14 is about Creating heavy texture with outerwear. Tweedy wools and rough flannels along with mutlistripes and contrast panels of twill to update solid colors, 2013-14 is shaping up to be huge for menswear.

Simplicity is another big trend taking menswear by storm designers are taking menswear to a more chic level outside of suites. The focus is to remain true to heritage and keep the men’s trends somewhat outdoorsy but also adding a modern prints.
