55th Annual Grammy awards

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on 55th Annual Grammy awards

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards, the biggest music night of the year, attracted the stars, the big performances, and all the surprises. When it came to style, it appeared as though many celebs complied with CBS’s family friendly dress code because there were less risque looks than past years. However, those constraints must’ve sparked creativity because there were also many refined, imaginative and demanding outfits. Who do you think dressed the best?

Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu Jr. better known to his fans as Tinie Tempah is a November 1st 1988 South-London Born rapper and fashion icon to many he has increasingly become a house hold name amongst his peers and fans alike because of his great music and impeccable fashion sense which seems to be winning him some awards like the Man Of The Year 2012 GQ Awards in the best solo hip-hop artist category.

’Pass Out’ which was his first single from Parlophone Recordings went straight to number one after its release in 2010 February. The rapper has performed on the same stage as Rihanna during her tour to the United Kingdom and also Snopp Dogg in Glastonbury during his tour to the United Kingdom,Tinie also got the honorary chance to perform at the closing ceremony of the Olympics along side his favorite singer Emeil which he terms as a ‘VERY SPECIAL MOMENT’ . Tinie Tempah has been able incorporate the Street meets nerdy kind of style to most of his styling which has not failed him. He’s one part ’80s throwback (reinterpreted through the eyes of a new generation that didn’t live through the tragedy of stonewashing and shoulder pads), one part geek chic, and 100% style noteworthy as in his music, Tinie Tempah likes to mix a huge variety of influences to find something new and fresh that has not been done by anyone or as a throwback kind of style.

Tinie Tempah, his manager and cousin have become actively involved in fashion and have their own line which is based in the United Kingdom known as Disturbing London in Selfridges, the line was launched last year in April. The brand just like him mixes high end fashion aesthetic with the urban street style which befits his profile. Tinie Tempha has also designed the popular Disturbing London X  blazers for Nike, the shoe brand. He is the first and only British rapper to ever design a blazer for the well acclaimed shoe brand Nike.

Beyonce Super Bowl Ensemble

Maybe Beyoncé has picked up where the First Lady left off.

At last night’s Super Bowl halftime show, she, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and the entire fleet of 120 backup dancers wore little-known New York-based designer Rubin Singer.

Singer, a third-generation couturier from Russia, launched his label in New York 2007. Beyoncé and her sister Solange have worn Singer’s designs in the past, but nothing as big as last night’s placement.

“This is a moment,” Singer told the New York Times of dressing Beyoncé for the Super Bowl. “Everyone’s expecting Beyoncé to go with a major designer,” Rubin added. (It’s true, there were those rumors that she’d wear Givenchy, like Madonna did at her halftime show at last year’s Super Bowl, but they were quickly quashed.) “My business could have legs from this,” he said.

According to a release, Singer presented storyboards from his fall 2013 collection titled “Valkyrie’s Dominion” to Beyoncé’s stylists Raquel Smith and Ty Hunter right after Thanksgiving. He got the job and put over 200 man hours into what you saw last night.

United Colors of Benetton Spring/Summer 2013 Campaign

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on United Colors of Benetton Spring/Summer 2013 Campaign

This campaign breaks new ground for the Benetton Group brand. Starting this season and using an ever changing set of ambassadors, it rolls out a totally new format based – in the words of Chairman Alessandro Benetton – on “the iconic value of color – a founding value for United Colors of Benetton and once again at the centre of our aesthetics and communications – to give a powerful assertion of the identity and excellence of this brand, which holds diversity as a value, and the unity of differences as a wealth to be treasured.”

The photo shoot for the United Colors of Benetton S/S 2013 fashion campaign was held in Paris at Pin-Up Studios, last November. At this three-day shoot, nine major ambassadors for style and life – personalities who have distinguished themselves for their multiculturalism  cosmopolitan spirit and social commitment – “talked” to the camera about their interpretation of color, the chromatic mirror of the talent and personality that have placed them in the limelight around the world.

This season’s campaign features: Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, tunisian model, with her professionalism and dedication has become an example to many other Arab women with the same dream; Kiera Chaplin, actress, model and granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, in addition to being an active supporter of UNESCO, works with a foundation caring for young people; Charlotte Free, Californian model known for her pink hair; Mario Galla, differently-able German model, successfully treads the catwalks; Dudley O’Shaughnessy, British actor and model, and former national welterweight champion, has taken the values of loyalty and competitive spirit from his boxing and transferred them to the world of fashion; Matias Perdomo, Uruguayan chef, has brought an original intercontinental mix to his restaurant in Milan, combining tradition and innovation; Lea T, trans-sexual Brazilian model, is overcoming prejudice; Alek Wek is actively committed to drawing international attention to the humanitarian disaster in her homeland of Sudan; and, Elettra Wiedemann has been bringing her refined, cosmopolitan culture to the world of fashion since the age of 15, alongside an attention to the environment and natural resources.

Once again, Thom Browne blessed the stage of Paris Fashion Week with a phenomenal collection. The heavy wools and tweeds are delivered in a range of patterns while the models wore the pieces in boxy cuts. The New York-based designer brought out stars, squares, and stripes to really make the offerings standout from seasons past. All-in-all, the suiting, as quirky as the presentation was, stood out the most as we expect the gray and midnight blue color palette to really be a push for Fall 2013
