I had to opportunity to interview football player & painter Aaron Maybin recently. We discussed how his paintings come to life and whats his vision when creating them. Aaron is currently working on keeping art alive in schools around the city so kids will have a great program to show there creativity. The creative genius paintings display pop culture and very intellectual paintings that really makes you think. The Dresscamp AW14 show was another over-the-top outing for Toshikazu Iwaya, who has established his brand’s signature fun flavour over recent seasons with vibrant designs and playful styling. Closing Tokyo Fashion Week, this collection was exemplary of the city’s unique fashion sensibility. There was no confusing this for the runways of Paris or Milan, and while it was closer to London, even the British capital would unlikely orchestrate such a specific affair. There was something quite amusing to the pimps and hoes reference, what with the textiles, those hats, the male models’ cartoon-like moustaches and the deliberately overdone hair on their female counterparts. Then there were the more modern gangsta notes, that is the hop-hop inspired streetwear pieces, epitomised in those sweaters with ‘gorgeous W’ branded across their fronts. There was a lot going on and, should the truth be told, it was at times chaotic. However, it was perfect at what it was meant to be and there were numerous great takeaway pieces that would work just as well on their own as when part of this rather particular, exaggerated aesthetic
Rachel Zoe is back as an author as she revealed her second book, titled Living in Style: Inspiration and Advice for Everyday Glamour, via Instagram on Friday morning.
The superstar stylist, who graced the cover wearing a diamond-embellished cream dress, wrote in the caption, “Beyond proud to reveal the cover of my second book Living in Style – been working on this for a long time and could not be more excited for you to read it.”
Living in Style was co-authored by fashion journalist Monica Corcoran Harel, who also contributed to Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant‘s book The Fashion File: Advice, Tips and Inspiration from the Costume Designer of Mad Men.
The 42-year-old designer described her new book as being “filled with never-before-seen personal photos, images of my fashion and beauty icons and contributions from my inspirational friends and mentors on home decor, entertaining and travel.”
