Exclusive Interview with Dapper Gent Mo Anwar

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST, U B KILLIN' EM | Comments Off on Exclusive Interview with Dapper Gent Mo Anwar

There are many people who attend fashion weeks in Milan and Paris and nobody knows who they are but love there Style. Mo Anwar is one of them candidates in the Amsterdam was able to get an exclusive interview with him check it out below.

What made you wanna be in the fashion industry and how did you start?

I think it started at a young age. I always loved clothes but at that time I didnt knew that I could make a living out of it. On some point i didnt believe in fashion at all. I thought being a doctor or a lawyer are the jobs to make good money and fashion was just a key for looking good.

I first started as an assistant of the creative director of Avantgarde (Dutch Fashion magazine). I did that for a whole year. After that I wanted to combine my creative skills with my communication skills so I ended up as a publicist at Fuse Communication. There we represent fashion labels such as: Prada eyewear, Dolce & Gabbana eyewear, Ray-Ban, La Mer, Bobbi Brown, FALKE and much more. Next to my job at Fuse i’m also a freelance fashion editor for The Big Black Book.

2. How is it working at The Big Black Book?
It’s a lovely job and gives me a lot of opportunities, like going to the shows in Paris and Milan and also interviewing and meeting a lot of talented people.

3. What does fashion give back to you?

Satisfaction. If you really, really love fashion you will understand my answer.

  1. Do you have any favorite designers?

I don’t have one specifically. Of course i love Queen Miuccia Prada, she always gets it! I also like Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Haider Ackerman, Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy and I love what Nicolas Ghesquière is doing for Balenciaga. I love to mix their collection- items’s with vintage pieces. In my opinion that’s really the essence of style.

5. Could you give any advice to people who are like you trying to break in the industry?

Courrage is key! For example be willing to invest in yourself. Take internships. Let people notice you. People think that succes just falls out of the sky. That is a dream, its not reality.

Kelly Cutrone once said to me be friends with your dream bosses assistant. You’d be suprised how many assistants are looking for a good intern to help them out.

Most important of all; dont be a quitter! If you fall down once, be to prepared to fall again and again and again. Just keep in mind if you want something you can have it! You just have to work for it.

6. Do you have any goals?

I would love to eat more healthier and I would also like to travel more often to see the world. Other then that i couldn’t wish for more. I have my health, my friends, my familly and great jobs. So i guess my goal would be to keep everything how it is and dont mess it up!

Lil Wayne outfit was paired with a $34.99 KISS Fitted and a $75 OFWGKTA Earl Hoodie with giraffe print shorts and high-top sneakers. His new style reminds me of when you let a 6 year old dress there self.  The shoes are on point though. I am nnot a huge fan of the long white socks people wear up to there neck as well.

McQ Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on McQ Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook

McQ delivers a pretty balanced collection for Spring 2012, giving us a pretty versatile range of goods. The collection is young and gives hints of rock, prep and straight up bad ass throughout. The denims are broken in and the leather jackets are pinned to the max. Most of these peices I feel will be very great sellers. My favorite would be the orange pants and all the jackets. What are you your thoughts of the collection?.  The McQ line does a good job detaching its self from the signature line’s dark and brooding aesthetics that run throughout the brands other collections. Instead the McQ collection features a more formal meets preppy look, heavily influenced by military and English punk . These are excellent looks for the spring.

Sidewalk Style Icy Or Spicy Lady Gaga In Stéphane Rolland Couture

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on Sidewalk Style Icy Or Spicy Lady Gaga In Stéphane Rolland Couture

Lady GaGa starts off her New-year in couture. We all now she is the only person who loves to do this  After joining Mayor Michael Bloomberg in Times Square to kick off the new year celebrations, Lady Gaga was spotted out in New York City. The singer donned a Stephane Rolland Fall 2010 Couture mini dress with a flowing cape. Although this was one of my favourite looks from the presentation, I never expected to see it worn as a street-style look – but this is Lady Gaga. The dramatic ivory wool look was even worn with the same bejewelled white tights and opera gloves. Gaga added Christian Louboutin ‘Daffodile’ white pumps to her look. I’m sure she has these pumps in every colour possible now. What do you think about the look Icy or spciy?
