Sony/Meg artist Que Williams is back"

There is a noticeable difference between today’s R&B and the music of the past. Once upon a time, great vocalists like Michael, Gerald, Luther and Keith had passion in their music. They had romance. The music made love. I ran across Sony/MEG artist Que Williams and I haven't looked back since. Bringing a new flavor to R & B, Que adds in neo-soul, trap and eclectic tunes to his music. ... A Girl’s Guide To Trends: Point In Peplum

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on A Girl’s Guide To Trends: Point In Peplum

New fashion always gives us more life. It’s like our bodies builds more metabolism when a new trend is mentioned (the feeling of a true fashionista/fashionisto). Pre-Fall collections recently previewed at NYFW have been more appealing than ever before. Designers are now using their natural instincts and starting again to emphasize more on personal inspiration—getting back to their roots. This truly pleases me!

Fashion houses are getting back to the age were fashion was daring and intriguing—my Point Is In Peplum; a modern trend. When peplum comes to mind in a sense it reminds me of my great-aunts’ favorite fashion staple, but within a second thought, thinking beyond the box, it reminds me of all things chic. I think form and function; a trend that deserves a second life.

Peplum, with it’s retro ancestry, is one of our more sensible-romantic trends—with it’s most recognizable form. Subtle and sweet, this trend luckily plays nice for any body form and is very flattering. In the state of being flattering, peplum is the seasons’ most favorite in trending; fashion is becoming personal. There maybe just a little doubt among some whether peplum will be a fashion hit or miss—will it be? I think with fashion houses having everything to do with this comeback it has staying power!!

The Sartorialist | Lunch for 25 Video

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on The Sartorialist | Lunch for 25 Video

Earlier this month, Scott Schuman, most notably known as The Sartorialist, hosted a lunch at a small Trattoria in Florence. The setting was simple yet timeless, perfectly in line with the gentlemen that would be on hand. This would also be the set for the first video from a man that’s known for his effortless stills. The Inaugural Sartorialist Lunch took place during Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy and will be a biannual event moving forward. Here’s how it all came to be:

About a year ago, Scott and I were sitting at a small Trattoria in Florence. The place looked amazing– not only the simple and traditional decor, but also the irreproducible Italian atmosphere and overall elegance of the gentlemen.

“Doesn’t this place look like the best fashion story ever?” I asked Scott.

“Yes!” He said, “Real, cool, diverse– It’s like if all the best dressed guys I know got together for lunch….. We should just do that! Get my favorite guys together in one room, it would be so much fun. These guys have so much in common and yet, for most of them, their paths never cross. Just imagine, someone like Gianluca, with his dreadlocks and modern-minimalist aesthetic sitting next to Lino, with his old-school Italian charm…. Mr. Kurino and Simone Righi discussing their first suit, Kanye and Terron talking about whatever it is those two super funny characters could dream up… I’m just guessing, but I bet these guys would really hit it off. What a great way to forge new friendships.”

“Scott… You should do it!!!” the idea sounded fantastic to me.

And that’s what Scott did. I can tell you, I was so jealous not to be in Florence for The Inaugural Sartorialist Lunch. But, here are a few photographs and a video to let you share the first of what we hope will become a biannual event that grows every year through a continually increasing diversity of style and deepening camaraderie between friends.

A Girl’s Guide To Trends: Pleated Skirts

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on A Girl’s Guide To Trends: Pleated Skirts

When you think of Spring fashion—you think of pastels, frills and flowing dresses, but for Summer/Spring 2012 there’s a new trend brimming the runways: pleated skirts. So demure, lady-like and sophisticated this “second-time-around”, 70’s fashion staple, will have all the ladies in full-swing, literally!!

This Spring, designers have worked very hard to change the game. With clever intentions and deceptive folded designs, the pleated skirt has come back with great versatility—as seen at Spring/Summer 2012 NYFW. From the biggest to smallest of pleats this universal trend can be worn with any piece of fabric, leaving you feeling dressed in relaxed sophistication. Subtle, yet emphatic towards any silhouette.

Being chic and propositional pleated skirts are a good way to make an everlasting impression when worn for any occasion. With an altering hemline you will never look over-dressed when wearing pleats, however, you will look more elegant due to worked realistic craftsmanship. When a woman wears a pleated skirt her look will be polished and refined with no restraints!! I introduce this second-life trend as the new cocktail piece/dress! A true head turner!

There are so many ways to dress up your body and a pleated skirt has so many ways to prove this point. When wearing pleats remember to factor in the act of fun, balance and flattery.

The trick to pulling off a “pleated arrangement” is to recognize the size of pleats that works for your silhouette. Embrace all assets—making sure to understand your body, because knowing where your natural waist is very important when wearing anything to do with hemline. Your goal is to flatter, not understate. Pleats fall smoothly when placed correctly on the body—key. Make no mistakes with this trend; your fashion image is vital (remember that). With pleats have an action plan to express your style. A pleated skirt is the best in comfortable fashion with a minimalistic twist. Be full of yourself and pleat away with this trend.

Got any questions on what to pair with pleated skirts? Leave your comments and let’s build your style with pleats!!

Below are a few of my favorites from collections of Prada RTW Spring/Summer 2012.
