Sony/Meg artist Que Williams is back"

There is a noticeable difference between today’s R&B and the music of the past. Once upon a time, great vocalists like Michael, Gerald, Luther and Keith had passion in their music. They had romance. The music made love. I ran across Sony/MEG artist Que Williams and I haven't looked back since. Bringing a new flavor to R & B, Que adds in neo-soul, trap and eclectic tunes to his music. ... Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on Rihanna Covers May issue Elle Magazine

Rihanna cover girl reign on the latest issue of Elle Magazine, which hits news stands in May. Yellow looks great with her skin tone.

Inside she talks about her break up with Chris Brown and decision to reconcile as well as the criticism she’s received. Rihanna also talks about why she is in no rush to have kids and finding the right guy. Peep the experts and photo spread below:

On breaking up with Chris Brown
It gave me guns. I was like, well, f*ck. They know more about me than I want them to know. It’s embarrassing. But that was my opening. That was my liberation, my moment of bring it. […] Now you know that, so you can say what you want about it. I don’t have anything to hide.

On how she has been able to deal with the backlash since reconciling with the star
The bottom line is that everyone thinks differently. It’s very hard for me to accept, but I get it. People end up wasting their time on the blogs or whatever, ranting away, and that’s all right. Because tomorrow I’m still going to be the same person. I’m still going to do what I want to do.

On having kids
It could be tomorrow. It could be 20 years from now. I just feel like when the time is right, God will send me a little angel. But first, of course, I have to find a man. I mean, there’s a very important missing piece to the puzzle here!

On how hard it is to find perfect gentleman
I feel like it’s hard for everybody! I don’t think it has anything to do with being famous. There’s just a major drought out there. […] But I just need to find the person who balances me out, because then things like my schedule won’t matter. I’ve done it before, so I know I can do it again.

William Okpo’s Fall Lookbook

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on William Okpo’s Fall Lookbook

The NYC-based designer duo behind the label William Okpo has turned out another colorful, wearable and wholly unique collection. Sisters Lizzy and Darlene Okpo (pictured above) designed the collection, titled Public School, with the elementary school girl style in mind. The result is a collection that’s anything but elementary.

Wavy colorblocked silk dresses, two-toned suits and pops of plaid are seen throughout. On a whole, the label, named after their Nigerian father who had his own penchant for style, has produced a fall/winter collection featuring equal proportions of vibrant colors and patterns, flattering fits, and apple amounts of swag, that is sure to make you stand out in a crowd.

Victoria Beckham Autumn/ Winter 2012 Collection

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on Victoria Beckham Autumn/ Winter 2012 Collection

Victoria Beckham aka “Posh Spice” has left her mark on pop culture as well as the fashion industry. She has just recently unveiled her second collection at NY Fashion Week to rave reviews. The former Spice Girl featured pieces that would put you in the mind of 1950s military pin up girls in a modern way. The dresses hugged the models curves or lack thereof, with intricate patterns and strategically placed gold buttons to add to the strong military effect. The looks were very simple but stood well enough on their own, bringing together a very cohesive project.

Ms. Beckham is known to stir controversy for her slender, barley there frame and leaves intrigued individuals wanting more; however it is without hesitation that we are able to say that this lady knows a woman’s body. With mixing comfortable and classy while producing still wearable everyday pieces; this helps her stand out because that is a rare combination in high fashion. Color was not a big portion in this collection however, bold statement bags, and chunky Christian Louboutin boots made the perfect accessory for the runway. With major celebrities wearing her line such as Anne Hathaway, Eva Longoria, and most recently Beyonce, it is an undeniable fact when we say that Victoria Beckham will be a main stay in fashion for years to come.

Stefano Pilati Speaks About His YSL Departure

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on Stefano Pilati Speaks About His YSL Departure

It’s been four weeks since Yves Saint Laurent announced the departure of creative director Stefano Pilati. Last night at the French Institute Alliance Française, Pilati took to the stage with Pamela Golbin, curator of fashion and textiles at Paris’s Les Arts Décoratifs, to discuss his highly-publicized exit. Golbin talked with the Milan-born designer about his career, from his beginnings as a Nino Cerruti intern in Milan and gigs at Armani, Prada and Miu Miu. Tom Ford eventually came calling, appointing Pilati design head of Yves Saint Laurent’s ready-to-wear collection in 2000. When asked about future plans, Pilati commented “loads, loads, and loads of vacation.”

Bravo is lined up to produce a new fashion reality show starring none other than André Leon Talley. The show is tentaively called Fashion Stories of NYC, and our beloved ALT will mentor four design teams competing in a Project Runway-style competition. Honestly, I’d be content watching ALT sit in front of a green screen, chatting, but this is great news. Will you tune in? (NYMag)
