Let us now acknowledge its existence, together. Let us note that the ... READ MORE

For the better part of 2013, wisdom designer Hans Chyi has been exploring a concept he calls “Mt. GENTLEMAN,” or “the search for a mature style guided by a sturdy yet graceful eye.” The idea also provided the starting point for his latest collection, combining influences from both the rugged outdoorsman and sophisticated urban dweller for a selection of simple, yet layered fall looks. Featuring casual designs like sweats, anoraks, soft tailoring and knits in a variety of colors and patterns — florals, paisleys and camouflage included — the collection is made in Taiwan with an unwavering attention to fabric, construction and function. Rihanna’s Costume Designer Launching Own Label at New York Fashion Week

Posted on by Icy Twan in LATEST | Comments Off on Rihanna’s Costume Designer Launching Own Label at New York Fashion Week

Adam Selman, Rihanna‘s costume designer and the brains behind the pop star’s multiple collabs for British high street brand River Island, is set to debut his first eponymous Spring 2014 collection at New York fashion week.

(…Wait, you didn’t think Rihanna actually designed those River Island collaborations all by herself, did you? Oh, you did? That’s so sweet!)

Selman, who was responsible for Rihanna’s barely-there bejeweled Carnival bikini, amongst other things, has been outfitting the pop star for the past two years. He studied design at Pratt, and initially got the hot-commodity gig through his boyfriend (and Rih-Rih’s stylist), Mel Ottenberg.

But don’t expect any bedazzled boobs in his own collection: According to WWD (which got a sneak preview of Selman’s stuff), the line includes “a swim component, worked in a wearable way, along with soft lingerie and athletic references.” “It’s sexy. It’s that fantasy woman but it’s also sporty,” says Selman, who took inspiration from a 1981 HBO special on supermodels called Beautiful Baby, Beautifuland 1970s Cosmo covers.

Selman’s hope is that his September 5 presentation will lead to retail potential, tellingWWD that Net-a-Porter, Barneys New York, and Opening Ceremony are all on his radar. Seeing as Opening Ceremony’s already technically carried his designs, we’re betting at least one of those goals will be met.

We spotted the Alexander McQueen “Stained Glass” dress on Nicki Minaj earlier this month for a night of partying. We love the print and sophisticated style of the dress, and even remarked on how it can work on a variety of body types. Which is why it was no surprise that Hayden Panettiere wore the same exact dress for the “Late Show with David Letterman” today. The actress paired the mini with fire engine red booties and Fendi cuff. Like Nicki, Hayden has a bleached blonde mane a new blunt cut that adds edge to the total look.

After debuting their minute long video for “Lose Yourself to Dance” at the 2013 MTV VMAs, electronic band Daft Punk was joined by producers Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers to present the award for Best Female Video, in which Taylor Swift won. They were all dressed up wearing the same outfit with shimmering Saint Laurent sequin blazers in gold and silver.

Rita Ora got a bit of a shorter, wispier, banged cut while at Percy & Reed Salon in London, and played up her new coiffe in a menswear inspired suit and tri-tone derbies by Christian Louboutin: Pastel blue nails and her signature bright lip added flourish to her ensemble.

The look comes courtesy of Angela Simmons, who tended to her 106 & Park duties in a $24 Darcey Printed Sleeve Bodycon Dress from Boohoo:

Rih Rih sure has a thing for Versace signature sandals!
Her latest acquisition? The brand’s $1,145 studded python stompers, which she paired with a form skimming purple dress while kicking it with the band We are GTA:
