Sony/Meg artist Que Williams is back"

There is a noticeable difference between today’s R&B and the music of the past. Once upon a time, great vocalists like Michael, Gerald, Luther and Keith had passion in their music. They had romance. The music made love. I ran across Sony/MEG artist Que Williams and I haven't looked back since. Bringing a new flavor to R & B, Que adds in neo-soul, trap and eclectic tunes to his music. ... New Artist on the Rise: Domineko

Posted on by Nyvia Weathersby in ICY APPROVED, Music, Music | Comments Off on New Artist on the Rise: Domineko

unnamed (11)

Most of my people are about hoes, dough, and history. It’s hard to get up out of the hood, when we a mystery.Wood Floors, Domineko

Hail from Kansas City, Missouri, Domineko spits venomous lyrics over 90’s inspired boom-bap beats. He gives the listener a grand entrance into the working of his poetic mind. Domineko is a new artist to look out for. It is highly recommended to have Wood Floors LP placed into rotation for the whip with the speakers blasting loud.

What inspired you to release the LP, Wood Floors?

My inspiration for the LP came from my overall life experiences over the past 4 years. Yes Wood Floors took 4 years to complete. I’ve had a few of those instrumentals for that long. I’m also in a 3 piece rap group called Yawn Johnson and we had just dropped our self-titled debut. Once I we had released that album it was like the pilot erupted and I knew it was time.

Knock, Knocking featuring Le Izmore, which is produced by Ecid, is the single released for Wood Floors, what was your motivation for this song to be your debut track for this album?

Actually the first release was the Mike Hurst track entitled Happy Home, then Knock Knocking. The motivation behind that being a single was to display a sense of real hip hop. Luckily fellow Midwesterner Les Izmore helped me achieve.

What other areas do you hope to dive into?

I really wasn’t looking for any specific sound. It all just happened natural. I feel like the 90’s feel came from my subconscious. I don’t want to be all churchy but I just keep praying while grinding and networking. Pretty much everything eventually fell in my lap.

Kansas City is the mecca of Jazz music, what Jazz artist encouraged your style that you have today or does your beat selection reflect your hometown influence?

I’ve always listened to jazz but only just recently have I been able to soak it in. My girl put me on Miles Davis and Coltrane. Charlie Parker is also a great listen. When it comes to my instrumentals because of Jazz as a genre, I’m a sucker for smooth. I’ve always been an oddball though. I feel like I’ve just now perfected my style if any lol.

What is next for you, Domineko, as an artist?

The rest of this year will be all about Wood Floors. From networking to the visuals, we still have in the works. Building the Domineko brand itself will also be a main focus. As new music goes, I’m probably going to fall back and just do features for a good minute. Two big things I want to concentrate on is finding a booking agent and keeping a good relationship with a PR. The one I’m working with now is pretty legit. I’m hoping to take our business relationship to the next level. I like her energy.

Do you have any upcoming performances?

I have my LP release party on June. 6th at this street art gallery called Kultured Chameleon. Shout out to Lee. He owns that place. He’s helped so much. Then I have a show on the 14th with Les Izmore and D/Will. They form a duo called Heartfelt Anarchy. They both blessed Wood Floors with their talents. I’m thankful to share songs and now stages with their local powerhouse. After the 14th I really wanna take some time and invest in myself. Focus on getting out of Kansas City to those listeners out of town, state, and one day the country.

You seem like a well-versed artist, what inspires your creativity?

As far as my creativity goes I want to say my imagination has a big part in the inspiration aspect. I’ve always been into anime and video games. The stories always reeled me in. All the personalities and culture that people could create amazed me. So I started drawing my own characters and creating my own worlds. I know this sounds like the next Disney movie but in short I’ve always kept my Inner child healthy. That’s allowed me to create things as original and as creative as Wood Floors and all those cartoons I used to create.

Damon Wayans Jr. comes from a strong lineage of comedic greats. But the 30-year-old is paving his own way with his ABC show, Happy Endings (that premieres tonight) as Brad the super funny, type-A investment banker. In addition to the successful show being in its third season, the actor posed for the November issue of GQ modeling the season’s hottest color, yellow.

Looking very icey, he posed in five outfits from designers Marc Jacobs, J. Crew, Dsquared2, Ledbury, Coach and many more. Looking all-American and actually, kind of hot, we’re definitely planning on tuning in tonight.

Just in time for a her new album, Ri looks ‘Red Hot’ as she graces the November 2012 Issue of Vogue Magazine, shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.  This is the second time she’s graced the American Vogue cover and would be the third time in the past two years thatshe’s graced Vogue, if you count her November 2011 British Vogue cover.

Rihanna has definitely reaped the benefits of re-inventing and re-creating her image by rocking three different styles and hair colors on each cover. which are your favorite covers that you think are icy or spicy.

White Dee & Ricky G-Shock Coming Soon?

Posted on by Icy Twan in ICY APPROVED | Comments Off on White Dee & Ricky G-Shock Coming Soon?

Dee & Ricky, the New York based fashion design duo, had lent their trademark retro style to the latest edition to the G-Shock family. This limited edition chronograph perfectly pairs an extra-large analog/digital with the Dee & Ricky design sensibility seen on fashion runways and metropolitan sidewalks worldwide. G-Shock is collaborating  again with a white version his time. I wonder when will they release. This watch is so perfect if you are hard on watched but still would like to have a nice watch at the time. Last year I purchased this watch at the BK in Filmore, SF and feel in love with it.  There always limited edition and many isn’t made so I will make sure I keep and and have  a date for the release very soon. Below is the black version that was released already.

The EveryThing Shoe Prada 2011 Creepers

Posted on by Icy Twan in ICY APPROVED | Comments Off on The EveryThing Shoe Prada 2011 Creepers

The Prada Creeper shoe for spring / summer 2011 are available in four different colorways, the espadrille and oxford hybrid. They’re a spring shoe  and so icyyy you can even wear them for  Fall 2011. These shoes are in high demand right now, Barney’s NewYork only carried the black ones. I recently made a trip to Prada to purchase me a pair and now they’re retailing for $950 custom ordering. Fellas I know 950 is pretty steep to pay for some shoes but these are worth it.

Every One knows Burberry is know for Trench coats, some had slim lines and others with full skirts. My favorite was the crocheted collars. Many of the mens peices were showed in the Milan collection back in june. The colors and every detail and the inspriartion for this collection is amazing. Solange NY Fashion Week Looks

Posted on by Icy Twan in ICY APPROVED, U.B.K.E. -- WOMENS | Comments Off on Solange NY Fashion Week Looks

Solange Knowles is becoming a style icon in my eyes. The natural look doesn’t work for some women but she pulls it off very well. Ms. Knowels know has a voice for her self and you dont have to identify her as Beyonce sister any more.I would say her style is a pro with mixing and just have skills and overall. Below she is wearing  very on-trend florals and neon at Fashion’s Night Out.  those Alexander Wang loafer pumps  is so icyyyy!!! Then after fashion night out she bursts back out again to give us more icyness wearing little red shorts and a geometric print top. Her retro camera go so nice with the garments.Solange really looks great in dresses she attended the ashion Week party for Total Management wearing a yellow and purple outfit and coral lipstick. I think she is in love with prints and patterns this season. Solange wore a dress by Mary Katrantzou and carried Mulberry’s Fox Lock bag. I love her 70’s looks it fits her so well.. In the Yellow she killed it!!
