The Future Looks Bright at Chanel Couture

It might have been the city of the future, but the biggest stars of today were on-hand to watch the show. Rihanna and Kristen Stewart both scored invites (we think this is both of their first Chanel shows?) and showed their appreciation in the only ways they know how: Rihanna went basically naked save for a long, perilously unbuttoned cardigan. And Kristen Stewart sat front row and didn’t smile at all.

As for the clothes, our woman on the ground there Alice Pfeiffer described the collection, “in a nutshell,” as “more future, less goth–a more hopeful, gentler warrior.”

“This time, the core silhouettes were composed of cropped skirts worn on top of ankle-length, narrow skirts, and extra wide belts worn on the hips, with soft slip-on tigh-high boots.”

The rectangular tweed headpieces, Pfeiffer noted, “perpetuated the Coco from the Future feel that started last season with blue helmet wigs à la Enki Bilal.”
