Lenny Kravitz is looking just as fine as ever on the latest cover of UPTOWN magazine.
In the mag’s cover story, “Lenny: Simply the Best in Saint Laurent,” he reflects on his career up to this point and talks a bit about his 10th studio album, Strut.
Check out a few excerpts.
On getting married again after dating starlets and supermodels:
“I’m waiting. It’s coming. It isn’t a far-off thing anymore.”
On having more children, and what his daughter 25-year-old Zoë Kravitz offered:
“I would like to do it again. That’s the way I feel, but when I bring it up [Zoë’s] like, ‘Slow down. Slow down. I can have kids. Slow down.’ So I don’t know if she’s too keen on it.”
Reflecting on the deaths of his mom and dad:
“I thank God every day for my health. [Health], for me, is where it begins and the rest is gravy. Also [I’m thankful] for being disciplined. As they say in the Bahamas, there are a lot of talented people living under the bridge. A lot of folks driving cabs, fishing and working in the streets can act and sing better than people getting Oscars and Grammys .”
On his love of fashion, specifically Saint Laurent:
“What I like are clothes that are classic rock and roll. Saint Laurent has that retro inspiration but its cleaned up and made into modern fashion. Their clothes fit my silhouette. They’re clothes that feel like me .”
On his future:
“I feel like whatever I’m supposed to do or get or achieve will happen, and what’s not mine is not mine to have. My grandfather used to tell me when I was a kid, ‘Nobody can take anything away from you that is yours.’ He also used to say, ‘the best is yet to come.’”

Our friend and Fashion Icon Mr. Sam Sarpong is back on the scene! We love featuring this guy because he is a man about his business. From walking in some of the most prestigious fashion shows in the world, to gracing our television screens, Sam Sarpong has proven to be unstoppable. This Tommy Hilfiger supermodel vet is now headlining ( or taking over) Los Angeles Fashion Week and starring in TBS show “Average Dad”. Aside from that Sarpong is in film “Crossed The Line” with Ice T and Vanessa Williams. We got a chance top catch up with Sarpong this week briefly. Check out what the entertainer had to say;
What have you been up to?
Hosting and walking in shows! I hosted African Art Fashion week. It was a good experience and I loved the line LA RAW. It definitely gave young African designers a chance to showcase their creativity.I also headlined the show for CM2K- it may have been the best show I’ve ever been apart of in my career. They had a very detailed aesthetic and a futuristic feel.
Whats next for Sam Sarpong?
I have a show Average Dad with Jamie Presely coming out and film Crossed The Line with Ice T and Vanessa Williams. I shouldn’t let this out the bag yet but I’ll be collaborating with shoe line Vado Shoes in 2015. Also next month I’m shooting the Fall line with KD Luxe Jewelry. It should hit stores next year. I’ve been working with the brand for over 3 years and each year they come out with some really cool and exciting pieces.

The black and white shoot has Minaj decked out in some some uber trendy menswear-inspired looks, a little different than the designer gowns she’s been rocking on the red carpet recently. Check out the pics from the mag in the gallery above. The magazine hits stores this month.
Erykah Badu is one of those rare artists whose image and sound precede her name. Case in point: you can sense her vibrant bohemian aesthetic in Givenchy’s radical Spring 2014 campaign even before hearing that she styled it or seeing the ads in which she costars. Since the release of her 1997 neo-soul debut, Baduizm, the South Dallas-bred chanteuse has not only crafted an unforgettable image; she’s proven that she has both style and substance.
